Song Of The Day 9/3/2012: Tony Bennett - "Smile"

I saw Tony Bennett Sunday afternoon at Bumbershoot. First off, the man is 86 years old and he's got twice the lung capacity as me. Secondly, his incredible mid-life turnaround and sequential comeback are, for reasons I shan't delve into, inspirational to me personally. Thirdly, when he sang Charlie Chaplin's "Smile," it was the first time I'd ever heard that advice and not given it a glib kiss-off. I took it as instruction. That's probably because he smiles all the time and it seems to work for him. I got misty-eyed when he sang it, despite my not supposing to, but I hope Tony lets me off with a warning.

Plus, he still makes the girls scream. I saw it with my own eyes. It was a good day.
