Song Of The Day 3/19/2013: Tracey Ullman - "Breakaway"

Tracey Ullman's 1984 album You Broke My Heart In 17 Places came to me late in life, well after she'd established herself as a comedienne of the highest order (and in John Waters' A Dirty Shame, the lowest order). It's since become a huge favorite from the era, maybe new wave's best album with retro aspersions. "They Don't Know" -- I've always wanted to do that song. Any human being who can get through the verses of "Life Is A Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)" deserves some kind of physical fitness certificate. "Breakaway" is a cover of Irma Thomas' obscure original that came supplied with this furiously cute video.
