June Monthly Album Report

Albums listened to: 29.

YTD: 172 -- by the way last month's YTD figure was off, and I don't know exactly how it got that way, but I've whipped out some serious Excel sheets and audited this stuff, and this is a really, super-accurate number now. Promise.

Loved: Owen Pallett, Miranda Lambert, Lee Fields & The Expressions, Officer!

Thought were great: Conor Oberst, Bob Mould, Fucked Up, First Aid Kit, Old 97's, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires.

Caught in a new rating designation that's somewhere between "damn good" and "great" that I haven't come up with a suitable term for yet: How To Dress Well, Clean Bandit, A Sunny Day In Glasgow.

Thought were damn good: Röyksopp & Robyn, Hundred Waters, Parquet Courts, Professor Elemental, Jack White, Lana Del Rey, Big Freedia, The Fresh & Onlys, Haunted Hearts, YG.

No, seriously, this was damn good: Mariah Carey.

They'll do: White Lung, Mastodon, Japanther, Yann Tiersen.

I hate to say this, but no: Chrissie Hynde.

You seem like a really nice guy, and maybe if we were in the same stage of personal development we might have had a drink or played darts or compared notes on canteens at REI or something, but musically I think we're incompatible, at least for now -- maybe you should do something untoward that will damage your psyche ('cause I really don't believe your psyche's as damaged as your record makes it sound) and get back to me after the litigation has cycled out: Ed Sheeran.

An abomination unto the Lord: None.
